Suncorp NetSetGO is Australia’s official starter program for girls and boys aged 5 to 10. It’s a chance to learn the netball basics, get outside and make some friends. For a lot of kids, this is the first time they’ll pick up a netball or chuck on a bib. It’s a learning experience. And a lot of fun.
NETSETGO-FAQs
NetSetGO is divided up into three tiers: Net, Set and GO. Where you start depends on your age and netball experience.
As you move through the tiers, you’ll pick up more advanced netball skills. One week it might be passing drills and ball games, next it could be shooting and practice matches. All Suncorp NetSetGO sessions are led by a friendly netball coach, using equipment built specially for kids.
So which tier should you join?
That depends on a few things: how old you are, how fit and strong you are, and how much netball you’ve played before.
Here’s a rough guide:
Net or the Net Skills program is for 5 to 6 year-olds. It’s all about picking up basic movement skills. Get ready to run a lot, catch a lot, and play a lot of ball games.
Set is for 7 to 8 year-olds. It’s a bit more netball-focused. You’ll play in our netball North Canberra Netball Competition held on Saturdays with modified rules of netball to be help with your development.
GO is for 9 to 10 year-olds. You’ll build on the fundamentals, play in the North Canberra Netball Competition with some slight adjustments to the netball rules. The purpose here is to prepare you to move into full competition in Juniors.
A Winter NET skills program for 5-10 year olds will be held at the Lyneham Outdoor Netball Courts on Northbourne Avenue from 9.30am – 10.15am on Saturday mornings. Commencement date is announced each season to inline with the NCNC Saturday Competition.
NetSetGO promotes the acquisition of basic motor skills in a fun environment of games and activities.
The program costs $95.00, which includes a NetSetGO T-shirt and a netball. Every player will receive a participant pack that includes a netball, a Suncorp NetSetGO t-shirt, a pack of Suncorp Super Netball player cards and a letter from a Suncorp Super Netball #TeamGirls player.
