As we come to the end of National Reconciliation Week we want to encourage all in our netball community to keep talking, keep educating and let’s keep moving forward together.
June 3rd is Mabo Day and commemorates the courageous efforts of Eddie Koiki Mabo to overturn the legal concept that Australia and the Torres Strait Islands were not owned by Indigenous peoples. This decision – known as the Mabo decision – recognized that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have rights to the land – rights that existed before the British arrived and can still exist today.
